Agricultural Services
Agricutural Services The main aim of the agriculturalist is to improve the Customer’s profitability and reduce his production risk. Our marketing model is based on creating value through agronomic knowledge to make our driving force: Prosperity for Omnia through prosperity on the farm, a reality. Therefore for its size, Omnia probably boasts the largest agriculturalist corps in the field in Africa. Agriculturalists are strategically located in order to provide timely and professional on-farm advice.
To reach the aim and bring to life the driving force of Omnia it is necsessary, from a crop production point of view, to create a favourable soil environment and manage the crop through the different growth stages. This is done through different actions:
Soil investigation Soil investigations are done to assist in crop selection, prevention of production problems and for the identification of factors limiting yield.
Crop planning Crop planning and selection is vital to achieve financial success. Soil and crop characteristics are considered in conjuntion with market trends to arrive at a crop plan most advantageous to the farmer.
Soil analysis results Omnia has one of the largest and best equipped soil laboratory’s that consistently produces high quality analyses. These analyses are interpreted on a soil and crop-specific basis by the agriculturalist which enables farmers to make sound decisions regarding fertilization.
Plant nutrition proposals Plant nutrition proposals cannot be made from an office that is remote from the farm. Proposals are made on the farm taking into account soil, leaf or OmniSap® analyses. Scientifically based proposals are made which take each farmer's individual circumstances, including his financial position, into account.
Crop inspections The entire crop production process is evaluated during a crop inspection. Aspects such as nutrition, pest and weed control, and disease symptoms are examined in an integrated and holistic manner. This approach provides the farmer with peace of mind regarding the complete health of the crop.
Agro-technology Omnia strives to remain the leaders in agro-technology. This is achieved by constantly investigating new technology, and developing methods for implementation. Omnia clients are therefore also able to stay at the forefront of technological development. The Agronomic Research and Development, OmniSap®, OmniBio™ and OmniPrecise™ departments are testimony of this.
Laboratory analysis database The extensive laboratory analysis database created by in-house software, is used to evaluate trends in soil, water and OmniSap® samples. This enables Omnia to identify potential agronomic problems even before they become general knowledge. The necessary measures and products can then be put in place to give Omnia a competitive edge. This pro-active approach ensures that Omnia clients are not caught unaware and make less profit than their resources allow.
Agricultural Services provides the agriculturalist with a vast store of knowledge and current technologies, and so forms the king pin in creating prosperity for Omnia through prosperity on the farm.
